Lead financial strategy in one of Australia's fastest-growing SaaS scaleups
Lawpath is transforming the way small and medium businesses access legal, accounting, and compliance services. As we expand our reach and product offerings, we’re looking for a Chief Financial Officer who can bring sharp financial strategy, commercial rigour and executive leadership to the next phase of our growth.
You’ll join the executive team and play a critical role in aligning capital, data and decision-making to business performance. This is an opportunity to lead at a scale-up with strong unit economics, a clear vision and a team that moves with pace and purpose.
Your impact
You will lead financial strategy and operations across the business. Your work will directly shape Lawpath’s profitability, capital position and operational discipline. You’ll bring visibility and control to key financial drivers while also guiding the business through scenario modelling, growth planning and investor readiness. Your scope will include:
Financial leadership and planning
* Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting and multi-year scenario modelling
* Partner with Sales, Product, Marketing and Engineering to align resources to growth
* Develop internal reporting that surfaces drivers, not just outputs
* Own the operating model and collaborate across teams to achieve our performance targets
Commercial strategy and investor readiness
* Track and optimise SaaS performance metrics including CAC, LTV, NRR and churn
* Inform go-to-market plans with financial modelling and risk analysis
* Lead board and investor reporting with clarity, pace and confidence
* Prepare for future capital raise cycles and maintain strong investor communications
Cash flow and capital management
* Oversee working capital, liquidity and cash flow forecasting
* Ensure spend discipline and capital efficiency across all business units
* Maintain strong financial controls and compliance frameworks
Strategic Capital Events and Exit Readiness
* Act as a key executive in engagement with investors, acquirers, and strategic stakeholders
* Navigate and prepare for varied outcomes: growth capital, private equity or strategic sale
* Lead or support processes for partial or full sale of the business, including due diligence, data room management, and commercial negotiation
* Build relationships and positioning with growth funds, PE firms, and strategic buyers to keep options open and maximise valuation outcomes
* Ensure the business maintains the financial hygiene, reporting cadence, and legal structure necessary to be transaction-ready at all times
Team development and leadership
* Build and lead a capable, commercially focused finance function
* Evolve our offshore and internal resourcing model as the company scales
* Provide financial input into company-wide decisions on compensation, hiring and team capacity
* Lead the evolution of finance systems, tools and processes to support rapid growth
* Assess and implement automation, dashboards and integrations that improve visibility and speed
* Work cross-functionally to ensure finance infrastructure scales with complexity and volume
* Drive a continuous improvement mindset across reporting, reconciliation and month-end processes
Financial controllership and compliance
* Maintain end-to-end integrity of financial systems, reporting and controls
* Ensure compliance with all tax, regulatory and accounting standards
* Own audit readiness and governance processes, balancing rigour with operational efficiency
* Embed scalable policies and frameworks for procurement, approvals and risk management
What You’ll bring
* At least 10 years’ experience in senior finance leadership, ideally within SaaS or tech
* Strong command of SaaS metrics and financial modelling
* Experience managing investor relations and preparing for capital events
* Proven ability to link financial insight to business decisions
* Strong commercial judgment, backed by analytical thinking
* Leadership capability to drive high performance and cross-functional alignment
* CPA, CA or MBA preferred
What success looks like
* Real-time financial visibility is embedded in the way we operate
* Weekly and monthly reporting cycles deliver clarity and confidence
* Finance is seen as a performance function, not a compliance layer
* Business leaders trust your guidance and are confident acting on your data
* Capital is allocated with discipline and aligned to outcomes
What’s in it for you
* Strategic influence at executive level - Join the leadership team with clear ownership of financial strategy and a key voice in company-wide decision making.
* Equity in the business - Participate in our Employee Share Option Plan (ESOP) and build long-term value alongside company performance.
* Purpose-led, values-driven culture - Work in a high-performing environment built on trust, transparency and initiative, where pace is matched with care.
* Leadership in a scaling SaaS company - Shape the finance function, build your team and guide operational maturity as the business grows.
* Investment in your growth - Access an annual learning and development stipend, internal training via Lawpath Academy, and support to grow with the business.
* Parental leave and flexibility - Benefit from paid parental leave and flexible working arrangements that support work-life balance at every stage.
* Time to connect - Enjoy quarterly strategy sessions, company offsites and regular team events that bring people together to celebrate progress.
* A workspace that works for you - Flexibility to structure your week in a way that works for you.
