The Role
We’re looking for an Asset Accountant to join our Shared Services team based at Warabrook, Newcastle. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive accounting professional seeking to take the next step in their career.
As the Asset Accountant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the financial management and reporting of Wanless Group’s extensive national operations. You’ll be responsible for ensuring accuracy, transparency and compliance in asset and project accounting activities, while maintaining robust financial records that support business growth and decision-making.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register across the Group.
- Overseeing Asset and Project Accounting, including capital expenditure tracking and reporting.
- Maintaining accurate costing records for major capital projects.
- Supporting Fleet Management financial records and reporting.
- Assisting with the Group’s financial budgeting process and forecasts.
- Contributing to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Collaborating with operational and project teams to ensure accurate asset data and reporting integrity.

You’re an analytical and organised finance professional with solid attention to detail and a collaborative approach. You enjoy understanding how things work in a hands-on operational business and can confidently communicate across departments to deliver accurate and timely information.
You’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA/CPA desirable or working towards).
- Experience in asset or project accounting within a commercial or industrial environment.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
- Exposure to or strong interest in learning Sage Intacct (experience with the reporting module highly regarded).
- A proactive attitude and willingness to improve systems, processes and reporting accuracy.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
