As a Hospital Pathology Collector (Phlebotomist), you will be at the forefront of patient care, delivering quality service and building strong connections within the hospital community.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Hospital Pathology Collector (Phlebotomist), you will report to the Hospital Collector Lead and work across wards including Paediatrics, Medical, ICU, CCU, Emergency, Oncology, Special Care Nursery, Maternity and Rehabilitation.
You will use empathy and strong communication to deliver great customer service and quality healthcare, liaising with doctors, nurses and patients to understand needs and requirements.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Liaising and building effective relationships with doctors, nurses and patients within the hospital
Advanced pathology collection—collecting samples (blood and non-blood) across wards and areas (Paediatrics, difficult bleeds, AGBs) with care and attention
Keeping meticulous records for every patient and sample
What Type of Person Will Be Successful
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced Pathology Collector.
You could currently work in a hospital or a clinic and are looking to diversify and grow your career.
You could also be a Registered Nurse seeking regular daytime shifts.
You will be a great communicator and relationship builder, professional and proactive in a hospital environment, and committed to providing quality patient care.
These are the type of attributes and skills you would possess:
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in phlebotomy, ideally with a Certificate III in Pathology Collection, or a nursing background
Excellent liaison and communication skills with a high level of empathy and a patient-centred approach
Organised with high attention to detail
Working with Children's Check or willingness to obtain one
Australian citizenship or permanent residence, New Zealand citizen, or valid visa with work rights
Vaccination evidence for vaccine-preventable diseases such as Hepatitis B is a requirement
Other vaccinations based on location or setting may be required
