Join the dedicated Cemetery Services team as a Groundsperson / Plant Operator and help deliver professional, dignified care to our community.About the Role Reporting directly to the Cemetery Team Leader, the Groundsperson / Plant Operator plays a crucial role in preparing, presenting, and maintaining gravesites and cemetery grounds in accordance with Trust standards and procedures. Key ResponsibilitiesGrave Excavation â Assist in the excavation of graves using cemetery equipment, with hand excavation required in special cases. Ensure safety shoring systems are used where applicable.Grave Presentation â Prepare gravesites for burial services with all necessary equipment (matting, lowering devices, surrounds) correctly placed and soil neatly managed.Backfilling and Maintenance â Backfill graves on the same day as the burial, handle floral arrangements respectfully, and place grave markers as directed. Maintain gravesites post-burial to ensure respectful presentation.Vault & Mausoleum Preparation â Assist in the preparation and sealing of concrete-lined graves and mausoleum crypts.Grounds Maintenance & Gardening â Carry out horticultural tasks such as mowing, planting, watering, pruning, fertilising, and landscaping to maintain the cemetery's appearance.General Repairs & Equipment Maintenance â Perform minor repairs to cemetery infrastructure and ensure all tools and machinery are in good working order and safely stored.Public Interaction & Funeral Support â Provide respectful assistance to Funeral Directors and mourners, including traffic control, coffin handling, and general support during services.About You: Current Drivers Licence with a medium rigid vehicle endorsement.A certificate of competency for excavator and front-end loader.If you are reliable, compassionate, and take pride in your work, we want to hear from you.
