About the role
This is an Aboriginal Identified position authorised under S14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) and/or S33B of the Discrimination Act 1991(ACT)
The Cultural Advisor will lead GPH's delivery of culturally informed services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through input in organisational policies and frameworks and through community engagement as needed. The Cultural Advisor is responsible for providing education and training to GPH employees, consumers, local Communities and external partners regarding cultural values, beliefs, traditions and perspectives on individual, family and Community life.
This is a fixed term full time role up to 30 June 2026 with the possibility of extension due to ongoing funding. This role can be based anywhere within the GPH region however there will be an expectation that you will travel regularly to Goulburn.

Duties
* Consult with the leadership team to achieve the goals of the organisation
* Develop a culture framework for headspace and the wider GPH services
* Support the development and implementation of the GPH Reconciliation Action Plan
* Deliver culturally appropriate services, education and practices
Skills & Experience
1. Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be an active member within the Aboriginal Communities.
2. Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice; Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health or Health Care or similar tertiary qualification in health, social work, or community development.
3. Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people and their health and ability to effectively engage, and communicate sensitively, with Aboriginal people to address their health needs.
4. Experience in developing and maintaining successful partnerships with Aboriginal organisations and Communities.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment with various health professionals.
6. Strong organisational skills including the ability to use initiative, set priorities and to plan and achieve desired outcomes within specific timeframes
7. Ability to use a computer and familiarity with the Microsoft Office applications and ability to use clinical information system
8. Current drivers' licence and willingness to travel as part of the role

headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Liverpool work to improve health, social, vocational and educational outcomes for young people.
