The Role

Reporting to the Head of Grid Connection and Approvals, the Wind Engineer will be responsible for performing wind resource assessments and layout optimization for future wind projects, as well as leading wind turbine generators performances assessment. Whilst coordinating deployment and installation of meteorological assessment equipment and managing meteorological data collection. The Wind Engineer also defines the basic design and configuration for wind projects under development phase, support tender process for wind plant equipment and conduct technical analysis of the design of contractors and gives support to Business Development, Engineering, and Asset Management during the development phase, construction phase and Operations & Maintenance phase.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the technical due diligence, feasibility studies, and design optimisation processes for wind projects, including energy yield assessments, wind resource (WRF/HDSM), noise, shadow flicker and visual impact assessment, EMI studies.
* Coordinate the deployment and installation of meteorological assessment equipment (mast, SoDAR, LiDAR) and managing collection of meteorological data.
* Lead the technical definition of WTG (Wind Turbine Generator) performance tests and conduct/review the tests.
* Support and provide input to the Project Engineer for design for permitting, basic design and detailed design.
* Coordinate with the other Units within the Organisation to provide the technical input to support project business cases for new opportunities.
* Supporting tender process for choosing WTG equipment's.
* Participate in design review meetings and conduct technical analysis of design modifications and non-conformities during construction and commissioning phase, impacting WTGs performances.
* Support performances calculations during project delivery phase and operation phase.

Selection Criteria

* Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Engineering or equivalent.
* 3 to 5 years' demonstrated experience in the wind sector, preferably in Australia.
* Knowledge of wind farm development (turbine technology, wind siting, wind farm design, planning permit, etc.).
* Advanced knowledge of the turbine technology and energy management control systems
* Previous experience in working closely with wind turbine OEMs or wind farm development will be considered extremely advantageous.
* Previous experience business case evaluation, including financials will be considered extremely advantageous.
* Basic knowledge of the Development Approval process.
* Knowledge of relevant technology standards AS/NZS (IEC, IEEE, UL is a plus).
* Advanced knowledge of MS Office package, including MS Project.
* Proficient in the use of CAD software (particularly, AutoCAD) is an advantage.
* Proficient in the use of various technical modelling software packages.
