Industrial control systems engineering opportunity across manufacturing, water treatment, and renewable energy sectors. Brisbane-based engineering contractor is seeking a Controls Engineer to take ownership of industrial control systems delivery from design through commissioning and handover across multiple sectors. You will work across Schneider, Siemens, and Allen-Bradley platforms, developing control narratives, PLC logic and SCADA interfaces for manufacturing facilities, water treatment assets, and solar/BESS operations. The role splits between office-based development and on-site commissioning work, offering technical variety across multiple industries. What You'll Do Control system design and PLC programming for industrial automation and renewable energy applications. Develop control narratives, implement logic across multiple PLC platforms, build HMI operator interfaces, and support FAT and SAT activities. Travel to site for commissioning work, troubleshoot field issues with operators and contractors, and ensure systems perform as designed once operational. This is technical controls work with direct client engagement. You will understand client processes, deliver practical control solutions, and see systems through from design to live operation. Required Experience 5–8 years in industrial automation or renewable energy controls engineering Strong PLC programming across Schneider (Unity Pro), Siemens (TIA Portal/Step 7), or Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000) SCADA platform experience (Citect, WinCC, FactoryTalk, or equivalent) HMI development and commissioning capability Field troubleshooting experience with logic, communications, and instrumentation Comfortable with site travel for commissioning activities Autonomous working capability with collaborative approach Industrial protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP), VSD programming, or renewable energy systems (solar/BESS inverters, grid integration) are valued additions.
