About the organisation
The Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (KAC) is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate representing the Kokatha People, traditional owners of a large area of land in the northern region of South Australia. This includes the town of Roxby Downs, Woomera, and parts of the Gawler Ranges.
Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation holds native title rights and interests on behalf of the Kokatha People and administers various programs and business ventures to deliver lasting social, cultural, and economic benefits to its members. With an expanding portfolio in land management, heritage services, training, and community investment, Kokatha is committed to strong governance, cultural integrity, and sustainable growth.
About the role
Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced CEO to report directly to the Board. The Board includes Kokatha Traditional Owners and Independent Directors, working together to uphold the Corporation's governance responsibilities and long-term strategic vision.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a strategic and creative leader with strong operational and organisational skills, who can provide oversight to advance the interests of the Kokatha community.
About you
You are a supportive and collaborative executive leader with a proven ability to set direction and lead major projects, drive business development, manage teams, and engage stakeholders effectively. You bring a strategic and outcomes-driven approach with strong governance and decision making, grounded in strong contemporary knowledge of Aboriginal culture, aspirations, and self-determination. Commercially astute, you steward budgets and performance, develop sustainable revenue, and mentor leaders to foster a culturally safe and respectful, high-performance organisation.
Key Selection Criteria:
1. Proven executive leadership experience setting enterprise strategy and creating sustainable success in complex, multi-site environments.
2. Strong track record of governance, risk and compliance at Board and operational levels, ensuring funding integrity, statutory obligations, and transparent reporting
3. Demonstrated success building and sustaining trusted relationships with community, Elders, government and regulators, translating engagement into partnerships and positive outcomes.
4. Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational capability with the ability to distil strategy into clear and measurable plans, and drive execution.
Commitment and Remuneration
* Tenure: 3-year term
* Living in Port Augusta or region (requirement to commute to the office daily)
