About the role
Do you love building relationships, solving problems and making a real difference in your community? We're looking for a Food Rescue & Food Rescue Engagement Coordinator to join our Tasmania team and play a vital role in ensuring surplus food is rescued and delivered safely to people who need it most. This is a part-time role, 3 days a week.
In this hands-on role, you'll be the key link between food donors, recipient agencies and our dedicated Food Rescue Drivers. You'll support daily food rescue operations while strengthening engagement across our donor and agency network to maximise impact and reduce food waste.
What You'll Be Doing
Food Rescue Operations
* Coordinate day-to-day food pickups and deliveries, ensuring smooth, efficient and safe operations
* Support and guide Food Rescue Drivers during shifts, acting as the first point of contact while they're on the road
* Manage driver rostering, leave and timesheets
* Maintain accurate daily records and databases
* Monitor run efficiency and identify opportunities to improve operations and reduce costs
* Ensure compliance with food safety, WHS and government regulations
* Oversee warehouse and cool room operations, maintaining a safe, clean and organised environment
Food Rescue Engagement
* Build and maintain strong relationships with food donors and recipient agencies across Tasmania
* Ride along with drivers as needed to support donor and agency engagement
* Coordinate regular communication with donors and agencies to share updates and strengthen collaboration
* Process new agency applications and assess agency needs to ensure food is distributed effectively
* Address and resolve agency or donor concerns, escalating issues where required
* Support driver development through feedback, coaching and training tools
* People and Team Support
* Recruit, induct and support new drivers
* Foster a positive, values-led team culture aligned with OzHarvest's mission
* Communicate openly, motivate others and help your team perform at their best
What We're Looking For
* A genuine passion for OzHarvest's mission and values
* Experience leading or supporting teams in a fast-paced environment
* Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
* Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving abilities
* Ability to juggle multiple priorities and respond quickly to changing situations
* Intermediate computer skills (or the ability to learn)
* A current driver's licence with a good driving history
* A valid police check (or willingness to obtain one)
* Forklift licence is desirable but not essential
