Overview
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on hospitality or retail manager to lead operations across two American Doughnut Kitchen sites in Melbourne. This is a unique opportunity to shape the next chapter of a 75-year-old icon, while driving growth in our new flagship store and helping expand our events program in the years ahead.
What You'll Be Managing
* Our 75-year-old legacy doughnut van – a Melbourne institution with a loyal following and a long-standing team.
* Our flagship store – just over a year old, with potential for growth, modernisation and retail innovation.
About the Role
Reporting to our Head of Operations (HoO), you'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of both sites, ensuring smooth operations, exceptional customer service, and strong commercial performance. You'll split your time between venues (and one day a week at HQ), staying hands-on in service to support your team, set the tone, and stay connected to the people and customers who make ADK special.
Your focus will include
* Managing and supporting staff across both locations, respecting the legacy and history of our team while introducing best practice and retail structure.
* Driving performance and innovation in the flagship store—from offers and marketing initiatives to margin optimisation and customer experience improvements.
* Maintaining consistency, product quality, and a welcoming, community feel at the van and shop.
* Collaborating with marketing on campaigns, local activations, in-store promotions, and events—including future opportunities to grow our events program (with HoO support).
* Balancing the different needs of each site and knowing where your presence will have the biggest impact.
About You
* You're a capable, people-first leader with at least 2+ years in a similar multi-site role, or 3–4 years managing a high-volume single venue and seeking your next challenge.
* Proven ability to lead teams, drive performance, create buy-in for new systems, and deliver strong commercial results.
* Experience introducing processes with care and respect for existing teams.
* Strong commercial awareness—confident in analysing performance and spotting opportunities.
* Enthusiasm for systems and processes, and the ability to make them part of the daily rhythm.
* Flexibility to work weekends and key trading periods.
* Coffee knowledge is a bonus, but not essential.
Why Join Us?
You'll be part of a small, committed leadership team balancing tradition and growth, with scope to influence the future of the brand. We're building for smart, sustainable expansion across retail, events, and community connections, and you'll be at the heart of that journey.
Location
Split between Queen Victoria Market, Prahran, and one day at our HQ.
Salary
$70–80k + Super (based on experience). Room to grow as the business expands.
