Description
The statewide training program offers a wealth of experiences for trainees.
Positions are available for first year trainees, beginning their exposure to paediatrics or those seeking paediatric experience for other training programs (e.g. general practice), through to more experienced trainees on their way to preparing for college exams.
Supervision is provided through consultant paediatricians, and trainee mentorship is available through a large and growing advanced training program within Tasmania (see separate recruitment campaign).
We're very proud to offer paediatric basic trainees the opportunity to meet all their training requirements to complete Basic Training within 3 years with available rotations in general paediatrics, emergency paediatric medicine, paediatric subspecialities, rural rotations within Tasmania and negotiated positions with interstate tertiary hospitals.
These positions are accredited by the RACP for basic training in General Paediatrics.
LGH and NWRH are both accredited for rural training when on rotation from Hobart.

$134,930 per annum
Salary is in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.
Classification
Medical Practitioner Level 5
Period of Employment
Fixed term, full time day work, 76 hours per fortnight (+10 hours protected training time per fortnight, pro rata) commencing from 1 February 2027 until 7 February 2028.
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‐employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.
The following checks are to be conducted:
* Conviction checks in the following areas:
o Crimes of Violence
o Sex Related Offences
o Serious Drug Offences
o Crimes involving dishonesty
* Identification check
* Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
