The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate counsellor to join our team. As part of this role, you will provide intensive engagement, treatment, supervision, and assertive outreach to young people affected by drugs, crime, and mental health issues.
This is an opportunity to work with evidence-based counselling practices that reduce drug use, improve mental health, and decrease involvement in crime.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough assessments of clients and provide individualised counselling as required.
* Provide family and other relationship counselling as needed.
* BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS AND STAKEHOLDERS.
* Liaise effectively with referrers, service providers, and families to ensure best outcomes for the client.
* DEVELOP EFFECTIVE PATHWAYS FOR CLIENTS TO ACCESS OUR SERVICES.
* ARRANGE COMMUNITY NETWORKING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO ENCOURAGE POSITIVE INTERACTIONS IN A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT.
* Maintain accurate client records and provide reports as required.
* TRAVEL WITHIN DESIGNATED AREAS PROVIDING AOD COUNSELLING SERVICES.
* CASE WORK SUPPORT AND TREATMENT PLANNING: Provide case management services for young people; develop planning, formulation, implementation, and review with the client, family, and key stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications, e.g. psychology or counselling.
* Minimum 2 years direct counselling experience.
* Experience working with young people between 12-25 years old.
* Knowledge of Therapeutic Community model and commitment to harm minimisation.
* Current blue card and driver's licence.
