Our client is a rapidly growing Civil/Construction company and currently have multiple projects running throughout the Pilbara region. A position has arisen for an experienced Operations Manager, who will have the main responsibility of ensuring the efficient running of allocated projects, implementing business strategies, increasing business growth whilst monitoring and reducing operational costs. This is a residential position in Tom Price being offered on a permanent basis with an immediate start available.
Key duties and responsibilities:
* Manage multiple projects including all project planning, financials and resources.
* Ensure all works are carried out to Australian and State Legislation, Acts, and regulations.
* Ensure all works completed to a high-quality standard, complying with Australian Standards, current Building Code of practices & the client's regulations.
* Manage all personnel allocated to the project, monitoring/controlling their performance against the role requirements and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
* Organise workflow and ensure employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
* Weekly planning & target setting, updating the works schedule.
* Ensure all project documentation is completed and correct prior to submission.
* Maintain and develop close working relationships with Rio Tinto, FMG and other business representatives whilst seeking further business development and growth.
* Identify/source required materials, labour and equipment for the project.
* Negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value for money and allocate resources.
* Promote/adhere to company safety, environmental policies, and procedures.
* Conduct Pre-Start meetings – Presenting information & encourage a safety focus.
* Costing and tracking of jobs, identifying and highlighting concerns where required.
* Maintain monthly financials for the division based on set targets.
* Review/monitor and manage monthly expenditure of non-profit items and job costings.
* Attend regular client and company safety meetings.
* Conduct performance reviews with the Leadership team.
* Always display a positive attitude and have open communication with all parties.
Qualifications, skills and experience required:
* Previous experience as an Operations Manager gained within Construction sector.
* Mine site operations experience – ideally with Rio Tinto and FMG.
* Hold a relevant qualification in Construction/Project Management.
* Strong Leadership skills, ability to develop strong working teams.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience in drafting/submitting budget proposals and negotiating vendor contracts.
* Experience leading, motivating and managing various projects and a project workforce.
* Proficiency in Microsoft office suit and MS Project.
