The Opportunity
Reporting to the State Logistics Manager, the Operations Manager is a key leader within the Distribution Centre. You will create a safe, high performing and customer focused environment while ensuring your team consistently delivers operational excellence. You will partner with internal stakeholders, manage operational performance, champion safety and drive continuous improvement, all while upholding Sigma's strong values of integrity, resilience, customer focus and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Distribution Centre Operations
* Manage and maintain the departmental budget
* Ensure operational efficiency through effective labour planning and the optimisation of automation
* Lead the team to adhere to standard operating procedures and work instructions
* Achieve and maintain inventory accuracy, damages and wastage targets
* Lead and uphold Sigma's Supplier Compliance Standards
* Champion adherence to all security procedures
* Ensure all learning and development requirements are achieved
* Collaborate with external stakeholders such as transport providers, labour hire and customers
People Leadership
* Lead a vibrant and positive team culture and celebrate success
* Provide a safe working environment for all team members
* Set clear goals and expectations aligned with business needs
* Manage recruitment activities in partnership with Human Resources
* Hold regular performance and development discussions
* Lead and engage the team to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
* Manage performance proactively when required
* Develop and set annual KPIs and ensure compliance with mandatory training
* Foster teamwork, unity and alignment with Sigma's values at all times
Who we are looking for:
Education and Experience
* A tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management
* Three or more years in a senior management position leading large and diverse teams
* Two or more years experience in an automated facility
* Transport experience
* Experience in the healthcare or similar industry is desirable
Knowledge and Skills
* Highly developed organisational and planning skills
* Strong attention to detail
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Effective leadership capability
* Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
Highly developed time management skills
* Financial acumen
* Experience managing customers and collaborating with stakeholders
* Desirable skills include advanced Excel capability, SAP, SharePoint and knowledge of the Code of Good Wholesaling Practice
