Global Grants Finance Officer ASHM is a not-for-profit organisation seeking an experienced Global Grants Finance Officer to support our Global Programs division in the financial management, compliance, and reporting of grant-funded projects. About you The Global Grants Finance Officer plays a vital role in strengthening financial stewardship and accountability across ASHM’s global portfolio. Working closely with the Senior Finance and Compliance Manager and Program teams, this position supports the effective delivery of grant-funded initiatives through accurate financial management, partner engagement, and compliance oversight. Benefits of working at ASHM Health Competitive not-for-profit benefits including salary packaging, novated leasing, and FBT concessions Extra leave : two additional paid days off over the December holiday period Flexibility : hybrid work model (2 days in office, 3 days’ work from home) Parental leave and an Employee Assistance Program supporting balance and wellbeing Purpose-driven culture : we value ethics, integrity, and social impact in everything we do Key Responsibilities Grant Accounting & Donor Fund Management Support the financial management of grant-funded projects, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and internal policies Assist in establishing, maintaining, and monitoring project budgets in collaboration with Program teams Track income and expenditure, ensuring accurate coding and alignment to approved budgets Monitor actual vs budget performance and prepare variance analysis Support grant acquittals and donor financial reporting within required timeframes Assist with reconciliations, including investigation of unspent or legacy balances Financial Reporting & Audit Support Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders Maintain clear, auditable financial records and documentation Support internal and external audits, including donor audits and accreditation processes Partner Financial Management & Capacity Building Conduct desk reviews of partner financial reports and acquittals Support financial control assessments across partner organisations Provide guidance and training to partners to strengthen financial management capability Identify and escalate financial risks or gaps in partner reporting and compliance Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identify and resolve technical issues across web applications and platforms. Perform regular maintenance and updates to ensure security and functionality. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure grant financial activities comply with donor requirements, legislation, and organisational policies Support identification and mitigation of financial risks Monitor changes in funding requirements and escalate impacts Forecasting & Project Control Assist with project forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow monitoring Identify trends in underspend, overspend, and financial risk Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Program teams and internal stakeholders to provide financial advice and support Liaise with external stakeholders on financial and reporting matters Contribute to meetings and working groups related to grant management Process Improvement Contribute to continuous improvement of grant accounting processes and systems Support enhancements to financial reporting tools and frameworks Qualifications and Experience Essential: Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline 3 to 5 years’ experience in grant, project, or operational accounting Experience preparing financial reports for government, donor, or not-for-profit environments Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel Desirable Experience in the not-for-profit or global health sector Familiarity with Australian healthcare funding environments Experience working with international or low- to middle-income country partners Skills and Abilities Strong attention to detail and reconciliation skills Ability to interpret funding agreements and donor requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion Eligibility This role is open to Australian citizens, permanent residents or applicants with valid work right.
