Hays Recruitment is delighted to collaborate with a Queensland Government Department that provides support to various government entities across the state. Their Townsville branch is currently seeking an experienced Payroll Officer for an immediate start to join their busy and dedicated team.
Your new role
As Payroll Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees. You will be responsible for ensuring staff are paid correctly and on time, maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation governing employment conditions in Queensland, and entering payroll data with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
* Proven ability to accurately prepare and process scheduled payroll and ad-hoc pay runs, ensuring leave eligibility, associated payments, correct costings, and appropriate approvals are applied.
* Experience processing timesheets, leave forms, allowances, and other payroll-related data to generate employee pay and required reports in line with approved payroll claims.
* Ability to calculate and process termination payments accurately and in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.
* Competency and accuracy in data entry, coordinating, monitoring, and preparing reports.
* Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage payroll information efficiently, ensuring employee records are maintained accurately, securely, and confidentially in both electronic and hard-copy formats.
* Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
* Ability to successfully pass a criminal history check.
