'The House of Honey' is looking for a full-time experienced Beekeeper to work at their Swan Valley business in Western Australia. A minimum of three years of experience is required and you will be required to assist in the management of our hives. You must be able to work based on a 38-hour week including night shifts and weekend work in the production season. The role of the Apiarist will work alongside the Head Beekeeper in overseeing the apiary, breeding, raising and maintaining of the bees. To be successful in the role you will be required to display these abilities: Experience in general beekeeping Work flexible hours, in varying conditions, including away from home. Lift heavyweights A current driver’s licence, HR truck licence is an advantage. Good teamwork ethics Work independently and train junior beekeepers Your duties would include but are not limited to: Management and maintenance of beehives Understand and identify flora sources to maintain the health of the stock. Perform spring manipulations. Transporting beehives Harvesting and extracting honey Bee removals Maintaining annual breeding program for queen bees Raising bees to produce honey and pollinating crops Identify bee pests & diseases. General labouring General ground duties as required at The House of Honey’s worksites Assisting in bee talks and workshops with the head beekeeper.
