Job Title:
Welding Inspector Specialist
The role of a Welding Inspector Specialist involves ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in welding activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for working on significant projects, developing fabrication work packages, creating and managing inspection and test plans, selecting and submitting weld procedure specs, and resolving welding issues during execution.
* Develop fabrication work packages for maintenance and projects.
* Create and manage inspection and test plans (ITPs), check sheets, and welding documents.
* Select and submit weld procedure specs for client approval.
* Resolve welding issues during execution.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate non-destructive testing, post-weld heat treatment, and industrial painting.
* Maintain contract-required quality documentation.
* Address client welding queries.
* Train and coach staff on quality control and assurance.
* Implement and monitor the Welding Management System.
* Conduct welder qualification tests.
* Advise on fabrication methods per client specs and standards.
* Participate in safety audits and inspections.
* Ensure compliance with SHEQ regulations.
Requirements:
* Relevant Mechanical Trade or tertiary qualifications, Cert III or higher.
* Weld Australia International Institute Welding Inspector - Basic Qualifications or similar.
* Weld Australia Welding Supervisor AS1796 Certificate 10 or higher.
* Experience with Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminium materials.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Welding Supervisory or Leadership role.
* Proficient in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings.
* Strong management and organisational skills.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
* Highly motivated with good written, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
* Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.
