About the Role:
The Elective Surgery Access Team Leader and Patient Support Unit Lead, is responsible for the coordination of patients accessing the planned surgery services at BCH and health service compliance with the Department of Health & Humans Services' Planned Surgery Access Policy.
This role also involves planning and implementing projects that enhance the patient's Perioperative journey, in accordance with the Planned Surgery Reform Blueprint
The Team Leader and PSU Lead will liaise with all relevant stakeholders, including consumers to continuously strengthen and improve the patient's planned surgical journey.
The Team Leader oversees the pre-admission process for surgical patients and monitors ESIS waiting list data, as required by the Executive team and the Department of Health.
Key Selection Criteria:
MANDATORY:
* Entitlement to work within Australia
* A Police Check that is current and within 12 months of the issue date
* Provision of valid Working with Children Check
* Provision of a NDIS Worker Screening Check
* Seasonal influenza vaccination of healthcare workers in accordance with Secretary, Department of Health Directions
* Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse/minimum 3 years' experience
* Strong Clinical Background in the peri-operative area
* Experience in elective surgery waiting list management
* Previous experience in developing and managing a successful team
* Demonstrated ability in data analysis and interpretation
* Well-developed time management skills with ability to prioritise completing demands
* Highly developed communication and negotiation skills
* High level of computer literacy with experience in iPM, Excel, Qlik and EMR
* Ability to develop creative solutions to achieve set goals
DESIRABLE:
* Previous Change and project management experience
* Understanding of elective surgery access guidelines
