The Role
Under broad direction, the EL1 IT Business Manager is responsible for developing and implementing business strategies, monitoring IT financial performance and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. The role will include leadership and management of the following: Service Management, Business analysis, change control, project support, mail services and admin support in collaboration with other IT teams.
The IT Business Manager will work closely with the Head of IT to realise approved plans for the Memorial in Cyber, Corporate and Strategic plans, progressing their content as required. They will provide support in the provision of applicable situational reports to monitor progress within the IT section to support Head of IT determine the direction of the section moving forward.
Core Responsibilities
* Lead the development and implementation of business strategies that align with the Australian War Memorial's (AWM) strategic objectives, ensuring measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
* Provide high-level operational support to the IT Service Manager, facilitating efficient workflows, optimal resource allocation, and effective service delivery across the section.
* Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture by promoting cohesion, knowledge sharing, and staff engagement, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
* Oversee budget planning and financial management activities, including license costs, ensuring compliance with financial policies and using reports to identify changes where required.
* Manage the end-to-end Information Technology Business Request (ITBR) process, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and timely execution of deliverables.
* Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs), providing strategic insights and recommendations to the IT Section Head to support continuous service improvement.
* Identify and assess operational risks, providing expert advice and implementing mitigation strategies to support business continuity and resilience.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers, ensuring clear communication and alignment with organisational goals.
* Ensure compliance with AWM policies, APS frameworks, and relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, promoting a culture of accountability and integrity.
* Lead initiatives to evaluate and enhance operational processes, driving efficiencies and supporting innovation in service delivery.
* Provide strategic and operational support to the IT Section Head, contributing to section-wide planning, reporting, and governance activities.
Desirable Skill and Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in the development, management and improvement of business systems, change management initiatives and implementation of quality assurance processes.
* Experience in data analysis will be well regarded.
Position Eligibility
* Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
* All applicants external to AWM that are offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a National Police Check, even if they currently hold a security clearance. The check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

* Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance
