About the Role
MTS is seeking applications for the role of Asset Engineering Technician (AET) – Communications and Control Systems, to join the Engineering and Maintenance Delivery team in Tallawong. This role involves the safe and efficient delivery of corrective and preventative maintenance and renewals tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver TMP-based maintenance for Communication and Control System inspections, including radio systems, passenger displays & announcements, ticketing systems, video monitoring, telephony, and central clock certification, in accordance with contract requirements and schedules.
* Identify and implement improvements in maintenance service provision, including TMP compliance, efficiency, quality of work, and use of Ellipse.
* Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests.
* Maintain positive stakeholder relationships, influence, and negotiate effectively.
* Participate actively in safety talks and activities.
* Review and assist in preparing SWMS and safety plans, ensuring they promote good safety and efficiency practices.
This position is based at Tallawong with flexibility to work from our depot in Sydenham. It involves day and night shifts, with uplift paid on night shifts, and weekend work up to two Sundays per month with shift allowances.
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
You are an experienced, proactive professional with 3-5 years of demonstrated work in maintaining communication (radio & telecommunications) and control systems, preferably in rail or large infrastructure projects. You are skilled in inspection, certification, root cause analysis, and developing SMART remedial outcomes.
You possess excellent IT skills, with experience in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting networking infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls in an OT environment, along with maintaining system documentation. Scripting skills in Perl or Python are desirable.
You have excellent communication skills, good time management, and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet objectives and standards.
