Key Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with Canadian tax legislation, including preparation of income and indirect tax returns, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare regulatory filings and responses to requests from government agencies (e.g., Statistics Canada).
• Review tax assessments, document tax positions, and support the business on income and indirect sales tax matters.
• Support audits and respond to tax authority inquiries, working with internal teams and external advisors as needed.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and associated disclosures, including general ledger reconciliations and subsystem reconciliations.
• Drive continuous improvements to optimize the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
• Evaluate and implement new accounting policies aligned with ASPE and IFRS as needed.
• Lead the preparation of annual audit working paper packages and support the external audit process.
• Identify and mitigate control risks in partnership with Corporate Accounting, Treasury, and Internal Audit teams.
• Prepare treasury-related reports and annual returns tied to investment portfolios, pensions, and related filings.
