About the Role: As Assistant Director-General Human Resources Strategy and Chief Human Resources Officer, you will hold a critical executive leadership role at the centre of the Department's strategy and delivery. Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Corporate and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Services, and working closely with the Director-General and Minister, this role is responsible for shaping the workforce strategy that underpins one of the largest and most complex education systems in Australia. This is not a traditional HR leadership role. It is a system-level opportunity to reposition human resources as a trusted strategic partner to the business, strengthening capability, confidence and performance across schools, regions and central office. You will lead the Department's human resources strategy, industrial relations, integrity and employee relations, health, safety and wellbeing, and workforce policy functions, providing authoritative advice and leadership in a complex and highly visible environment. At its core, this role is about strategic leadership at scale. You will guide and develop a senior Executive Director cohort, lift organisational maturity, and embed contemporary workforce planning, governance and delivery frameworks. You will lead complex industrial and enterprise bargaining matters, navigate evolving union and stakeholder landscapes, and drive outcomes that balance workforce sustainability with the long-term interests of the education system and the Queensland Government. The role carries accountability for strengthening safety, wellbeing and workforce resilience across a large and geographically dispersed workforce. You will oversee the implementation of key government commitments, including health, safety and wellbeing initiatives, while ensuring robust, defensible governance and decision-making in a high-accountability public sector environment. As a member of the Department's senior executive leadership, you will bring gravitas, sound judgement and constructive challenge. You will be a confident and credible advisor who understands how to operate within government, work effectively with central agencies, and lead through complexity, ambiguity and change. Your leadership will directly influence the conditions in which educators, leaders and staff across Queensland can perform at their best, supporting every student to realise their potential. This is a rare opportunity to step into a role of exceptional scope and influence, shaping the future of workforce leadership across one of Queensland's most significant public institutions.
