About the role:
Ballarat Community Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Clinician to join our supportive, established mental health team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for new clients, using a safe, engaging and trauma-informed approach to build trust and support individuals with a wide range of mental health needs, including complex presentations.
Working across the Ballarat, Wimmera and broader Goldfields region, you will provide both centre-based and outreach support, travelling within the region to ensure clients can access services in the environments that best meet their needs. As part of this travel component, you will be supported with appropriate accommodation and travel allowances.
This service supports people across the lifespan, with a particular focus on child and youth mental health. As a key member of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will complete intake, mental state examinations, risk assessments, treatment coordination, group work and discharge planning, while collaborating closely with internal and external programs to ensure clients receive integrated, person-centred care.
Your work will directly support people in the region to access timely and effective mental health services, helping them move toward stability, improved wellbeing and stronger community connection. By fostering meaningful engagement from the very first interaction, you will play a critical role in guiding individuals through complex challenges and supporting better long-term outcomes.
If you are passionate about high-quality, community-based mental health support and want to make a real difference across the Ballarat, Wimmera and Goldfields communities, we would love to hear from you.
What you will bring to the team:
Experience supporting complex clients within the mental health system, ideally in community-based settings.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage a busy workload while maintaining a commitment to self-care and personal wellbeing.
A sound understanding of current mental health service systems and a strong commitment to the social model of health.
Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage clients using a non-judgemental, respectful approach and maintain professional boundaries.
A collaborative approach, working effectively with team leaders, colleagues and partner organisations to improve client outcomes.
