City of Newcastle (CN) has a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic and passionate school aged Surf Lifesavers to work within our Aquatic Services Team. This team supports the wellbeing and safety of the community at the City's beaches and ocean baths. You will monitor and patrol these areas so that the community can enjoy our beautiful spaces.

As a member of our team, you won't just work for the city; you'll co-create it.

The Lifeguard Summer traineeship will support valuable career experience and enhance surf lifesaving skills for the successful applicants whilst working alongside Professional Lifeguards.

Successful trainees will work three weekdays of up to 24 hours per week throughout the summer school holidays and gain valuable experience working alongside professional lifeguards.

The essentials you'll need:

* Active patrolling member of a Hunter SLSC
* Hold a Bronze medallion
* Successful completion of a fitness assessment - 800m still water swim in sub 14 minutes
* Willingness to become first aid qualified
* Willingness to provide excellent customer service and to communicate effectively with public and staff
* NSW Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain one (if 18 years and over)

Other valuable skills you may have:

* Class C Driver's Licence
