The Organisation: 
A leading Queensland government department is currently recruiting for a Procurement and Contracts Officer (A06). You will be working for an organisation that is supported by a strong management team with a transparent vision. The organisation has a close-knit team where people work well together, and have an incredibly positive and supportive attitude. You will be reporting to a Director who understands the requirements and expectations of this role and will be able to provide exceptional support while you are getting your head around things. You will not be working excessive hours. This role is initially a temporary position for 6 months and has the potential to be extended. 
The Position: 
This role will ultimately require you to take ownership of the procurement and contracts management activities. You will be responsible for: 
Renewing and extending contracts with existing suppliers 
Reviewing contracts around performance, terms, dollars and value 
Analysis and reporting of key contracts 
Documentation management to ensure an effective compliance trail 
Communicating directly with suppliers 
Managing purchase order requisitions 
Your Profile: 
To truly succeed in this varied role, you will be able to demonstrate true competencies in the following areas: 
Ability to read, review and interpret supplier contracts 
Strong stakeholder engagement skills coupled with exceptional communication skills 
A good understanding of the procurement function 
Good resilience as you will be interfacing with many different stakeholders and building and nurturing strong relationships 
Experience using SAP will be helpful or any large ERP system 
Strong Excel skills to support some analysis work will be advantageous 
Ideally, you will have procurement experience within the Queensland State Government.
