To work with individuals who are experiencing problematic substance use and implement treatment plans that promote recovery utilising a combination of strategies. including group work, one to one intervention and family support for individuals experiencing alcohol and other drug related problems.

The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia's largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
About The Role
We are seeking an AOD Specialist to play a pivotal role in supporting and empowering other on their recovery journeys.
Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager this is a Full time (Max Term) role, located in Ulverstone, Tasmania.
You will successfully
Empower clients with personalised strategies like relapse prevention, mindfulness, CBT, and ACT to manage substance misuse and improve overall well-being.Provide harm minimisation support to enhance health and foster lasting recovery.Support clients' goals by tracking progress and offering regular feedback to celebrate their achievements.Ensure clients' voices are heard, with input into their unique Individual Treatment Plan at the heart of their recovery journey.Facilitate therapeutic groups that offer vital education on bio-psycho-social aspects, while building meaningful relationships that promote self-determination and resilience.Support: Provide emotional and practical support to youth facing challenges such as academic struggles, family issues, or social isolation. Program Development: Assist in developing and implementing engaging and impactful programs and activities that meet the diverse needs and interests of youth.
You will have
A Tertiary qualification in a relevant health service discipline (e.g. Social Work, Counselling or Allied Health) and experience in the alcohol and other drugs sector.Experience as an AOD practitioner, ideally with experience in providing integrated counselling and case management.Clear understanding of addiction and the issues which impact on addiction.Understanding of co-morbidity and experience working with co-morbid clients.Experience in facilitation of therapeutic groups.A current Drivers Licence. Empathy and Resilience.

Conditions
Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award (MSC) level 5 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties, allowances, NFP salary packaging.
