The Team:

The Communicable Disease Prevention Unit (CDPU) comprises three divisions: Immunisation, Health Intelligence, and Response including Infection Prevention and Control. The CDPU has delegated statutory responsibility for aspects of the Public Health Act 1997 .

The Tasmanian Infection Prevention and Control Unit (TIPCU) provide evidence-based infection prevention and control advice, leadership and information on healthcare associated infections (HAIs) to health professionals, consumers and patients. We coordinate an established HAI surveillance program, provide infection prevention and control resources, education and training, are involved in the licensing of private hospitals, private day procedure units, private ambulance services and other establishments as part of an entire licencing process for private healthcare facilities and services, and represent Tasmania on National committees and working groups.

The Role:

The Clinical Nurse Consultants - Infection Prevention and Control is responsible for providing clinical leadership in infection prevention and control locally and nationally and administering statewide healthcare associated infection surveillance in Tasmania.

You will need:

* Demonstrated advanced level of clinical nursing expertise in infection prevention and control and healthcare associated infection prevention.
* Well-developed leadership skills with the ability to collaborate within an inter- disciplinary team and to consult, refer, liaise and negotiate on complex professional, clinical service and health systems issues.
* Demonstrated capacity to undertake research and develop and apply quality improvement principles and strategies in the infection prevention and control and healthcare associated infection prevention, with the ability to coordinate and integrate findings to support decision making, innovative thinking and objective analysis to achieve agreed outcomes.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Location: Hobart

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
