Join Deakin University as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Counselling, Education-focused. This role is situated within the School of Psychology and will commence in early 2025.
About the roles
* Lecturer in Counselling, Education-focused – leads unit teaching teams in PACFA and ACA accredited postgraduate counselling programs to improve student learning outcomes and spearheads high‑quality scholarship.
* Senior Lecturer in Counselling, Education-focused – provides leadership at both unit and course levels, oversees curriculum design, assessment and teaching quality across entire programmes, mentors colleagues and drives pedagogical research.
Responsibilities
Lecturer in Counselling, Education-focused :
* Lead unit teaching teams and collaborate with other units to develop effective curricula and learning resources.
* Review units and courses, implementing refinements.
* Integrate industry, clinical and research practice into student learning experiences and success.
* Adopt innovative curriculum design at the unit level, delivering learner‑centric, research‑informed teaching across different delivery modes.
* Provide academic support to students and guide them to appropriate support services.
Senior Lecturer in Counselling, Education-focused :
* Lead unit and course teaching teams, collaborating across the faculty to develop curricula and learning materials.
* Lead review of units and courses and implement refinements.
* Develop and adopt innovations in curriculum design across courses, delivering learner‑centric, research‑informed practices.
* Design collaborative learning opportunities and support diverse learners through accessible and inclusive materials.
* Provide academic support to students and collaborate to improve support services to optimise outcomes.
Qualifications and experience
* Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications (e.g., Master's in Counselling) and experience.
* Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes, with innovative curriculum design.
* Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
* Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
* Capacity to contribute to research communities and leadership of research and administration.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish strong working relationships.
* Eligible for ACA and/or PACFA registration.
* Registered counsellor (ACA/PACFA) (Desirable).
* ACA/PACFA approved supervisor (Desirable).
