About the role: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Communications and Engagement Officer to join our team. This multifaceted role is crucial for creating engaging content, enhancing our organisation's public image, and effectively disseminating key messages across various platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering multiple project communication plans, managing our social media presence and creating compelling content across multiple platforms, and providing essential support for our many events across Australia. Your duties will include, but not be limited to: Develop and implement strategies to boost brand awareness and engagement across platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube; Create and schedule engaging content, including text, images, and videos; Write and edit high-quality content for our website, newsletters, blogs, and marketing materials; Craft compelling stories that align with our organisation's mission and values; Collaborate with teams to find content opportunities and produce multimedia content like videos and podcasts; Provide communication support for events, including pre-event promotion and on-site content creation; Assist with event-related materials such as invitations and presentations; Support the team in planning and running events across Australia; Work with project teams to create communication plans and supporting materials; Draft and distribute media releases and alerts to promote news and achievements; and Coordinate media interviews and prepare spokespeople with key messages. What we are looking for: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field; Proven experience (typically 4 years) in a similar communications role with a focus on media relations, social media, and content creation; Proficiency in using social media management platforms and analytics tools; Experience with content creation software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus; A confident communicator, who can identify and tell a story using a variety of tools and techniques, across many platforms; A team player who can translate complex, scientific data and information into pitch perfect posts and relatable reels; An accessible, reliable and important member of our project teams, who is able to manage large workloads and meet deadlines; and Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong eye for detail and accuracy.
