Applications are invited for accredited Pain Medicine Trainee position(s) at the Royal Hobart Hospital for the Core Training Stage (CTS) and/or Practice Development Stage (PDS) of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) training program.
Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for registration as a trainee with the Faculty of Pain Medicine, ANZCA, and be actively progressing towards Fellowship through completion of the FPM, ANZCA Pain Medicine training program.
Persistent Pain Service, Royal Hobart Hospital
The Persistent Pain Service at the Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's only tertiary referral pain service and is accredited as a Level 1 training unit by the Faculty of Pain Medicine, ANZCA.
The service operates within a multidisciplinary framework and includes Specialist Pain Medicine Physicians from a range of primary specialties including Neurosurgery, ENT, Rheumatology, Anaesthesia, and General Practice. The team also comprises psychiatry, pain nursing, allied health professionals including physiotherapy and psychology, as well as dedicated administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Day‐to‐day management of private & public inpatients/outpatients.
* Provide after‐hours emergency cover at the hospital as required.
* Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver pain management care.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Registered Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements.
* Active progression towards Fellowship in the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) through completion of the ANZCA Pain Medicine training program.
Pre‐Employment Checks
* Conviction checks for crimes of violence, sex‐related offences, serious drug offences, and crimes involving dishonesty.
* Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
Salary and Benefits
* $138,978 - $194,675 per annum.

Employment Period
Fixed term, full‐time, 76 hours per fortnight (+10 hours protected training time per fortnight, pro rata), commencing 1 February 2027 until 7 February 2028.
