Downer is seeking an experienced Spray Seal Manager to lead Metro operations based out of our depot in Pinkenba, QLD. This is a pivotal leadership role within our Queensland team, responsible for managing resources, driving operational excellence, fostering strong stakeholder relationships and identifying improvement efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead depot operations and manage annual budgets.
* Plan and coordinate resources to deliver high-quality spray seal projects.
* Build and maintain client relationships, identifying new business opportunities.
* Oversee financial performance, reporting, and forecasting.
* Provide strategic leadership across staff groups and major initiatives.
* Ensure compliance with safety procedures and promote a safety-first culture.
* Collaborate with internal departments (HR, IT, Finance) to ensure efficient support services.
* Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
About You:
* Minimum 10 years of spray seal experience or good knowledge of pavements and asphalt.
* Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering preferable.
* Proven experience in senior management within spray seal, asphalt or civil works.
* Demonstrated ability to manage complex civil construction projects.
* Sound financial acumen including budget development and forecasting.
* Knowledge of government contract management and operational best practices.
* Strong HR management, communication, and negotiation skills.
* High-level verbal and written communication skills.
* Collaborative leadership style and commitment to professional ethics.
