Opportunity
This is a senior executive opportunity to lead and grow the Australian operations of an established, globally operating business specialising in mission‐critical communications, delivering adaptive solutions to organisations across public safety, transport, utilities, industrial and mining sectors.
Reporting to the General Manager Australia, you will be pivotal in driving operational excellence, managing day‐to‐day operations and leading a high‐performing team across service delivery, project engineering and system integration.
What you'll be doing Strategic leadership
Collaborate with the Group CEO, COO and General Manager to develop and execute the Australian business strategy. Identify market opportunities and build strong relationships with key stakeholders including government bodies, clients and industry partners.
Operational management
Oversee all day‐to‐day operational aspects of the Australian business across service delivery, project engineering and system integration, ensuring efficiency, profitability and adherence to regulatory standards. Implement robust processes and systems using Prince2 or similar methodologies to deliver projects and services on time, within scope and on budget, while maintaining a first‐class customer experience throughout.
Business development
Work alongside the General Manager and National Sales Director to drive revenue growth, support the expansion of the business in key markets, and pursue large‐scale contracts and partnerships. Represent the business at industry events and conferences as required.
Team leadership
Build, lead and inspire a high‐performing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and accountability. Set clear performance goals, provide ongoing mentorship and ensure professional development opportunities for all team members.
Commercial and financial oversight
Support and manage local operational budgets, oversee cost‐to‐complete analysis for all major projects, and work closely with the finance and commercial teams to drive profitability and manage commercial risk.
Human resources, health and safety
Champion regional culture and staff development initiatives. Ensure compliance with employment laws, health and safety standards, and support the HR team with onboarding and operational staffing requirements.
What we're looking for
* Minimum 15 years of leadership experience in telecommunications, critical communications or a related industry
* Proven success managing business operations and achieving growth targets in Australia
* Experience in strategic planning, financial management and operational optimisation
* Prince2 or equivalent project management certification highly desired
* Comfortable working with international teams across different time zones
* Exceptional leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate diverse teams
* In‐depth knowledge of Australia's regulatory landscape in telecommunications or related sectors
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field (MBA an advantage)
