Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub-regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire.
CGH is located in the City of Sale which is 215 km east of Melbourne. The City of Sale is an ideal access point for the magnificent Gippsland Lakes, 90 Mile Beach and the Victorian Alps.
CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield).
Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.
CGH also provides aged care and community services in the Wellington Shire and beyond.
We operate four residential aged care homes located in Sale, Maffra, and Heyfield delivering high-quality, person-centred care in supportive and homelike environments.
CGH provides a wide range of community-based services that support people to remain healthy, active, and independent in their own homes. This includes the provision of Support at Home, Commonwealth Home Support Programs, and other in-home services tailored to individual needs.
Our integrated model of care is supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team offering physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and social work. We also provide accessible public dental services to enhance community wellbeing.
CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.

About Department
The Learning Services' department is based at the Sale campus. It provides ongoing professional development and support opportunities for all CGH employees, covering all CGH campuses including Maffra, Heyfield, Stretton Park, Rosedale and Loch Sport.
About the Role
The role of Clinical Educator – Operating Suites supports the development and clinical competence of perioperative staff, ensuring safe, high-quality care through effective education and training.
While primarily focused on the operating theatres, the role also supports broader staff development across Central Gippsland Health (CGH) and contributes to organisation-wide education initiatives as part of the Learning Services team.
Duties
Design and deliver continuing education sessions on new procedures, surgical techniques, and technologies used in the operating suites to maintain clinical excellence.
Work within the Learning Services team to develop/co-develop/deliver a broad range of educational activities
Act as a preceptor and liaison for undergraduate nursing students, Graduate nurses, transition nurses and Post Graduate Nurses during clinical placements in the operating suite, recovery room and day procedure unit, providing guidance, feedback, and support to enhance the students learning experience
Collaborate with academic institutions to facilitate post-graduate clinical assessments and achieve required learning outcomes.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Required:
Current registration with AHPRA.
Advanced clinical skills as a Registered Nurse.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Relevant postgraduate studies or equivalent.
High level organisational and management skills including the ability to set priorities, manage time, plan work to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
Highly desirable:
Experience in Clinical Education.
Experience +/- Post graduate qualifications in Perioperative nursing
Advanced Life Support competency
Proven interpersonal skills and ability to establish a good working relationship with colleagues and students, in addition to development and maintenance of strong links with relevant professions and the community.
