The Traffic Management Lead oversees all traffic management activities in the Infrastructure Division of 1000+ employees who work 24/7 to maintain our railway's assets. This includes more than 1,000 kilometres of track, 40,000 structures, signals, electrical systems and facilities to keep our network safe and reliable for our passengers.
You will be the main point of contact and expert, making sure traffic needs are identified early, planned well, and carried out safely and efficiently.
The role helps avoid duplication, improves efficiency, and ensures maintenance and renewal work causes minimal disruption to the public and stakeholders while meeting all standards and regulations.
This is a newly created permanent position working in our West Melbourne/Docklands offices with hybrid working of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and integrate traffic management needs into infrastructure projects and annual work programs, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Coordinate traffic management bookings and approvals, and ensure consistency across projects through compliant TMPs and TGSs.
- Analyse data to identify trends and risks, maintain reporting dashboards, and use insights to drive improvements and efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to regulations, manage traffic-related risks, and lead continuous improvement of safety and processes.
- Act as SME for traffic management, provide expert advice, and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage and oversee timely submission and approval of all traffic-related permits to ensure full regulatory compliance.
About You
- Relevant qualifications in Traffic Management, Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, or a related field
- Traffic Management Designer qualifications in TMD1, TMD2, and TMD3 certifications.
- Proven experience developing and managing TMPs and TGSs for large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Robust knowledge of traffic control standards, road authority requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to coordinate traffic management across multiple projects, ensuring compliance, safety, and efficiency.
- Skilled in data analysis and reporting, with experience developing dashboards to support decision-making.
- Effective stakeholder engagement, risk management, and process improvement expertise.
