Your Impact
We're looking for a Microbiologist to join our close‐knit, high‐energy team at our Yatala site, playing a key role in keeping our brewing operations safe, compliant, and producing great‐tasting beverages. This is a hands‐on role where you'll work across the lab and the plant, supporting microbiological testing, hygiene verification, yeast and fermentation monitoring, and finished product quality. Joining a talented and supportive team, you will contribute to ensuring the consistent, high quality production of some of Australia's favourite beers!
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine microbiological testing across raw materials, in‐process samples, environment, and finished product in line with HACCP and Quality Plans.
* Monitor and trend results to support plant hygiene, fermentation performance, and product release.
* Support site hygiene and CIP effectiveness, working closely with operations, quality, and contractors to prevent contamination.
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with GLP, GMP, and food safety programs.
* Participate in root cause investigations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Carry out routine instrument and equipment checks, basic maintenance, and consumable management in the lab.
* Support sensory activities, taste panels, and quality discussions as part of the wider quality team.
* Train and support line teams in aseptic sampling techniques, hygiene practices, and SOPs.
* Get involved in projects beyond day‐to‐day testing - from optimisation and sustainability initiatives to process improvements.
About You
You're an early‐career microbiologist who's keen to learn, contribute, and grow. You enjoy hands‐on work, take pride in accuracy and detail, and bring a curious, proactive mindset to everything you do. You're comfortable with routine work but motivated to get involved in projects and stretch yourself beyond the basics.
You'll Bring
* A Bachelor's degree in Science (Microbiology preferred, broader science backgrounds considered).
* Some experience in a food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or laboratory environment (industry experience is an advantage but not essential).
* A basic understanding of food safety, HACCP, and hygiene principles – or a strong willingness to learn.
* Confidence working both independently and as part of a young, collaborative team.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders on site.
* An inquisitive mindset and enthusiasm to take initiative and build your capability over time.
