Network Engineer Role
The role of the Network Engineer is crucial in maintaining and implementing network changes, as well as administering security procedures to ensure confidentiality, resilience, integrity, and availability of networked systems and devices.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing and implementing maintenance and installation work, implementing agreed network changes and maintenance routines.
* Administering and maintaining specific security procedures as required by Defence and organisation policy.
* Understanding and applying knowledge of current Defence and industry accepted hardware and software products relevant to ICT network engineering.
* Building and sustaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Investigating and resolving network problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. IT infrastructure skills at Level 3: provisions/installations, configurations, and maintenance of infrastructure services and components, monitoring, measuring, and reporting on infrastructure load, performance, and security events.
2. Systems installation and removal skills at Level 3: installations or removals of hardware and/or software, testing installations, correcting problems, and documenting results.
3. Network support skills at Level 2: contributing to operational configuration of network components, assisting in investigation and resolution of network problems, and assisting with specified maintenance procedures.
