About the role
The First Nations Health Manager Sexual Health Programs has management responsibilities for the continued development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Detention Centre Sexual Health Program to ensure culturally appropriate reproductive health, sexual health and bloodborne viruses services including prevention, early detection, contact tracing, health education and promotion are provided.
The position has further accountability in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sexual Health Programs across West Moreton Health.
About you
- Well-developed liaison and communication skills, and the ability to negotiate or communicate on behalf of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community and the West Moreton Health Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Unit.
- A high degree of program management and leadership skills.
- Ability to coordinate and implement education and skills development to health staff relevant to the specific programs of the Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Service.
- Well-developed knowledge of evidence-based guidelines and policy for health care program delivery, and ability to translate guidelines into primary health care practice.
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community
- Whilst not mandatory, a Diploma in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care would be highly desirable.
