**About the Role**
This newly created permanent full-time role has been developed to support the Maintenance Manager and land based team to provide a continuous reliable transport service to and from Kangaroo Island. We require a person with a broad skill base, preferably, in the marine maintenance field with a diesel fitter/mechanical or trade background.
Flexibility with hours will be available and supported, including TOIL, during specific times, with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and tight maintenance schedules. You will report to the SA Maintenance Manager and will be part of the shore-based maintenance team working primarily from our Cape Jervis location with regular travel to Penneshaw.
**More about the tasks**:
- Maintain, Service and general repairs to the vessels and infrastructure
- Conduct regular testing and inspections of vessels and machinery
- Respond promptly to emergency and breakdown maintenance requirements
- Diagnostic problem solving & rectification
- Proactively identify and report potential maintenance issues - preventative management
- Ensure complete and accurate maintenance records to meet compliance
- Lead the team of General Hands based in Cape Jervis and Penneshaw
**We will need you to have the following skills and experience**:
- Certificate in Mechanical Trade (Diesel fitter, electrical, refrigeration or plumbing) - essential
- Marine Engine Drivers 1 (MED1) or greater - desirable
- Experience in servicing, conducting periodical inspections, managing preventative maintenance schedules, and undertaking repairs to commercial vessels
- Computer knowledge, proficiency with MEX fleet management software or similar
- Experience in Managing and Leading a team
- Demonstrate current product knowledge & diagnostic skills
- You must hold a current open driver's licence - essential
- Work within confined spaces - preferred
- Provide First Aid - essential
- CPR - essential
- Forklift licence - preferred
- Working at Heights - preferred
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate your experience in a similar role with the ability to provide a high quality of work, preferably in the Marine Industry. You will often work unsupervised therefore initiative and motivation will be key. Results driven with a 'can-do' attitude, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and work schedules is essential to ensure continuality of our ferry service.
