This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency.
Duncraig Senior High School (SHS) is situated in the north-western suburbs on the coastal strip 18 kilometres from Perth. We cater for students from Year 7 to 12 and are a school of high standards where the care and progress of every student is our first priority. The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative leader who ideally displays outstanding interpersonal, organisational and communication skills with a displayed ability to lead a strong, highly skilled, and diverse team.
The successful applicant should display the ability to form positive working relationships within the Learning Area and the wider school community as they are regarded as a key member of the school’s senior leadership team.
The Head of Department - Mathematics leads quality teaching, learning and assessment programs in line with the Western Australian Curriculum and Senior Secondary Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Courses. Ideally, the successful applicant will lead the development of highly engaging mathematics curriculum for students of all levels, including differentiation for student needs. Duncraig SHS has a strong and supportive Primary School network enabling us to facilitate effective transition of Year 7 students.
The successful applicant should be data literate and be able to reflect on and assess the effectiveness of teaching practices in line with the school’s instructional framework, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential.
The Head of Department - Mathematics should lead and have extensive experience in operating high level Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) course in Specialist, Methods, and Applications, building staff capacity to work with highly capable students from our gifted and talented and academic extension programs.

Eligibility

* obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
