Overview
The National Security Assessment Capability (NSAC) is a recognised Vetting Agency and is approved to conduct and grant National Security Clearances. A National Security Clearance is a whole of person assessment to ensure personnel are eligible and suitable to access Australian Government resources and National Security Information (NSI).
As part of this role, you'll also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support organisational change and key QPS projects and initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Authorised Decision Maker function to National Security Clearance / National Security Assessment Capability including policy writing and policy amendments.
* Conduct National Security Clearance interviews as directed by the Senior Sergeant NSAC and manage Security Incident reporting including aftercare and risk assessments.
* Mentor and coordinate a network of Regional Vetting Officers state-wide and ensure quality assurance is carried out on all National Security Clearances completed by the officers within this cadre.
* Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams involved in the planning, development, implementation, review and evaluation of counter-terrorism projects and initiatives.
* Undertake research, provide advice, and assist in the preparation of documentation relating to the Security and Counter-Terrorism Command's project activities.
* Support the functions of the Prepare, Prevent, Protect Group through the provision of administrative and organisational support.
* Liaise, consult and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, including State and Commonwealth government agencies and partners and deal with sensitive and / or classified information in an appropriate manner.
* Contribute to functions within the State Police Operations Centre (SPOC) where required.
* Represent the Queensland Police Service at selected forums.
Role Requirements
Mandatory
• Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a national security clearance to the minimal level of Negative Vetting Level 2.
Qualification
* Attainment of a Diploma of Government Security or Certificate IV Government Security (Personnel Vetting) will be highly regarded.
* Applicants must be willing to undertake further development and training to obtain industry qualifications to undertake this role.
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience
* A minimum of 12 months in a similar position would be highly regarded.
Other
* The applicant must possess required character traits of honesty, trustworthiness, maturity, tolerance, resilience and loyalty to be considered for this role.
