Position Overview This position will appeal to highly skilled and motivated medical professionals passionate about regional healthcare, focusing on embedding an integrated specialist rural generalist model of care into existing college models. Key Responsibilities Support the Office Executive Director of Medical Services in medical administration and view challenges as opportunities to improve healthcare. Provide regional leadership and management of the North West Rural Generalist trainee workforce, aligning with the Tasmanian Rural Generalist pathway. Lead quality improvement activities in RG training sites and support undergraduate and postgraduate medical education across THS – North West. Collaborate with state and national stakeholders to develop the RG workforce model at the MCH hub. Develop the North West arm of the Rural Generalist program, creating clear pathways for trainees through accredited RG training to fellowship. About the Service The successful candidate will help develop healthcare at both patient and system levels. The DoH offers comprehensive training programs, with strong links to the University of Tasmania via the Rural Clinical School. Responsibilities include leading undergraduate medical education and establishing pipelines to the Rural Generalist Pathway Program. Servicing approximately 116,000 residents, THS North West includes major sites: North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) and Mersey Community Hospital (MCH), about 50 km apart. NWRH is a regional trauma center with inpatient services including general medicine, surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, obstetrics, ICU, and mental health, with telemedicine programs for stroke. MCH is a subacute hospital with limited inpatient services. Both sites have 24-hour pathology and radiology services, with staffing comprising Staff Specialists, Registrars, and Residents. Specialist Medical Practitioners Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 depends on meeting criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2, or 3 as per the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
