Chief Executive Officer
Gunditjmara Aboriginal Cooperative Ltd
Warrnambool, VIC (Peek Whurrong Country)
Full time • Senior Executive • Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation
About us
Gunditjmara Aboriginal Cooperative is a proudly Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, incorporated in 1982 and based on Peek Whurrong Country in Warrnambool. We deliver a wide range of holistic community health and social support programs to Aboriginal community members and other residents in Warrnambool and surrounding areas.
We work in close partnership with local government, health services, and other Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations across the Western District of Victoria. In 2024, we acquired a major new health and community facility, bringing our bulk-billed primary health clinic and community programs under one roof, with dental services to come and capacity to grow. This reflects our financial strength, cultural leadership, and commitment to community wellbeing.
Why this role matters
This is a unique opportunity to lead Gunditjmara at a decisive moment in our evolution. Building on strong foundations, you will guide the organisation into its next chapter, strengthening services, exploring new areas such as dental and social enterprise, and deepening partnerships that support community priorities.
You will be entrusted with balancing cultural authority and strategic, financial leadership, ensuring Gunditjmara continues to grow in ways that are sustainable, community-led, and culturally grounded.
What you’ll bring
We are seeking a values-driven leader who brings:
- Executive or senior leadership experience in health, community or not-for-profit services
- Governance, financial management and strategic planning expertise
- Knowledge of and respect for Aboriginal culture, kinship and community needs
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
- A clear commitment to Aboriginal self-determination and cultural safety

What we offer
- A financially healthy organisation with strong foundations
- A new state-of-the-art health and community facility as your operational base
- Breadth of services across health, family, youth, Elders, disability and wellbeing programs
- Opportunity to grow services and explore social enterprise ventures
- Attractive executive package, salary packaging, relocation support if required, and generous leave provisions
