A leading global financial services firm, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Custody Operations / Middle Office Specialist with very strong Hiport system experience to join their team in Sydney.
This is a full-time newly created role due to recent significant growth in clients that will play a crucial role in the organisation's operations.
The Middle Office team provides services to Asset Manager and Asset Owner clients, supporting trade management on a variety of asset (Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Cash, Loans Derivatives) as well as asset servicing functions including corporate actions, reporting and reconciliations. The Middle Office team based in Sydney is focused on providing client service support, specialist knowledge on assets & systems, change management and oversight of outsourced processes.
The purpose of this role is to support the broader Middle Office teams based offshore, with specialist knowledge on HiPort, asset and market knowledge to ensure client deliverables are met, escalations are resolved, monitor key controls and processes, as well as implement improvements across the core platforms and processes
Responsibilities:
* Providing expert oversight and management of the custody middle office function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions, corporate actions, and other key activities
* Collaborating with various teams, including operations, client services, and accounting, to resolve complex issues and optimise workflows
* Implementing and maintaining robust controls and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies
* Analysing data and generating insightful reports to support informed decision-making by senior management
* Mentoring and developing a team of middle office specialists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence
* Identifying and driving process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction
Experience:
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in a custody middle office role, preferably within a custody or funds management environment
* Thorough understanding of custody operations, including trade settlement, corporate actions, and reconciliations
* Strong knowledge of HiPort and a variety of asset types
* Ability to be hands on with the problem solving and implementing change
* Effective communicator across all levels of the organisation
* Desirable that candidates also have strong PowerBI and Alteryx experience
