Job Role: Dairy Farm Supervisor
Farm Background:
The farm spans 2000 acres, with 800 acres dedicated to irrigated crops such as cereals, hay, and permanent pastures.
Cattle Management:
The farm manages a Holstein herd of 750 dairy cows, milked twice daily, along with a total herd of around 1600 cattle. With year-round calving, the farm produces an impressive 7 million litres of milk each year using a 30-a-side herringbone dairy setup.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include overseeing milking processes, managing feeding schedules, coordinating reproduction efforts, supervising staff, and monitoring pastures and general farm maintenance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have prior experience in a similar role, including skills and attributes such as current AI certificate, strong animal health knowledge and ability to assess livestock condition, experience in pasture management, competent in record keeping using software, and willingness to supervise and train staff in animal handling and welfare.
