The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly capable philanthropic fundraising professional to take a lead role in building the trusts and foundations' program at a highly respected non-profit in drug policy and education. With opportunities to grow support nationally and internationally, this role offers the chance to make a real impact on the organisation's work and future direction at a pivotal moment.

As Trusts and Foundations Manager, you will develop and lead this program from the ground up, proactively identifying and cultivating philanthropic funders, private ancillary funds, and grant-making bodies, and securing funding to support Penington Institute's ongoing and innovative work. You will have the autonomy and organisational support to seek out and engage philanthropic supporters, build meaningful relationships and deliver tangible results.

Based at Penington Institute's Carlton office, this role offers flexibility through hybrid working arrangements and the opportunity to collaborate with a highly capable, committed and supportive team.

About you

You are a senior fundraising leader with the ambition and expertise to secure high-value funding for a vital area of drug policy, workforce capability building and community education.

You will bring:

* A proven track record securing high-value philanthropic funding from trusts, foundations, private ancillary funds, and other grant-making bodies.
* A proactive approach to identifying and engaging philanthropic funders with highly selective, multi-year, systems change or hard-to-access funding programs, including untied grants.
* A well-rounded understanding of the Australian and international philanthropic landscape
* Confidence, poise and polish, with the ability to develop strong relationships with senior-level trust and foundation staff and philanthropic donors.
* A high appetite for working in a challenging funding area.
* Experience or readiness to lead and grow a high-value trusts and foundations program, driving measurable income growth.
* Sound strategic judgement and political acumen, with the ability to navigate complex, sensitive and sometimes polarising issues.
* A collaborative, pragmatic and adaptable work style, suited to an organisation operating with limited resources but with high ambition.

Experience in like roles with a strong track record of meeting KPIs will be highly regarded.

Employment conditions
* Competitive salary base commensurate with experience + 12% superannuation + generous tax-effective not-for-profit salary packaging options.
* Part time or full time (minimum 0.4 FTE), 2-year fixed-term position available, extension possible.
* This role may require work outside of regular work hours and flexibility.
