The Role
The Nexus-J Teacher plays a pivotal role in shaping the literacy landscape of the Junior School.
Positioned within the library, this educator is a champion of literature, ensuring students from Kindergarten to Year 6 engage meaningfully with texts.
Responsibilities
Promotes a love of reading through engaging initiatives such as library excursions, curated book selections, and storytelling experiences.
Equips students with foundational research literacy, fostering curiosity and independent learning.
Partners with teaching staff to embed inquiry-based learning and literacy into classroom practice, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards.
Facilitates transparent communication of learning outcomes to families, enhancing home-school partnerships.
About You
You are an enthusiastic and innovative educator with a passion for literacy and a commitment to fostering curiosity and critical thinking in young learners.
You possess a strong foundation in digital literacy and research skills, and you are adept at working collaboratively with staff to integrate literacy into the classroom.
You also share our commitment to nurturing a love of reading and inquiry-based learning within a Junior School environment (K-6), and can demonstrate the following:
Experience working in an innovative library setting
Creates inclusive, stimulating learning environments that cater to diverse learning needs
Ability to align library-based learning with broader curriculum goals across subjects and year levels
Background in an inquiry-based teaching environment
Familiarity with iPads (Apple Teacher certification advantageous)
Current registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA)
Current Working with Children (WWC) Check
