We are expanding our Building Services team and seeking a Fire Protection Team Lead to join us in Melbourne. You'll play a pivotal role in leading multidisciplinary projects, driving technical excellence and supporting the growth of our fire engineering practice.
Responsibilities
As a Fire Protection Team Lead, you will lead the design and delivery of building services projects across a range of sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, and residential. You'll take ownership of project outcomes, provide strategic technical guidance, and ensure projects are delivered to the highest quality standards.
Beyond projects, you'll play a central role in mentoring and developing junior engineers, building strong client relationships, and contributing to the strategic growth of the Melbourne Fire Protection team. This is an opportunity to step into a leadership role where your influence extends beyond design: into people, projects, and the future of the business.
You will collaborate closely with Fire Protection Team Leaders across our regional offices to monitor project workloads, identify capacity opportunities, and coordinate resources nationally. Together, you will align and optimise our approach to fire protection resourcing to ensure consistent delivery, balanced workloads, and seamless collaboration across all offices.
Qualifications
* Minimum 8-12 years' experience in fire protection engineering within consulting or construction environments, with a proven track record of leading projects and teams.
* Bachelor's Degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
* Demonstrated capability in designing, reviewing, and certifying sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, detection, and alarm systems.
* Proficiency in Hyena, Hydraulic Calculation Software, and BIM workflows.
* Strong knowledge of NCC, Australian Standards, and local authority processes.
* Successfully delivered medium-to-large scale projects across sectors such as healthcare, education, commercial, data centres, or residential.
* Passionate about mentoring and developing others, with experience in team leadership or people management.
* Known for client-facing skills, ability to build trust, and commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions.
* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) preferable.
* RPE qualification – required for design certification and sign-off.
