Role Overview
Manager, Scholarly Communication and Research Outputs at Deakin University. This fixed‑term position leads a team of 13 high‑performing staff (five direct reports) within the Information Directorate, overseeing research support services, project delivery, and the university's open research agenda.
Responsibilities
* Lead with integrity, emotional intelligence, and ethical standards to cultivate a cohesive and capable team.
* Recognize and reward performance that aligns with the University's values and objectives.
* Develop and implement local plans that align with the University's research strategy.
* Monitor progress, assess risks, and adapt priorities to ensure successful outcomes.
* Oversee the design, management, and evaluation of the Library's services related to research support, scholarly communication, bibliometrics, and stewardship of research outputs and data.
* Analyze complex issues, identify inclusive solutions, and translate them into clear goals.
* Implement and evaluate continuous improvement strategies to enhance service delivery.
* Foster stakeholder support, generate enthusiasm for change, and create a safe environment for open dialogue.
* Promote inclusive and respectful resolution of issues to advance the University's research agenda.
Qualifications
* Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
* Project management experience and a good grasp of the volatile scholarly communication landscape.
* Equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
* Demonstrated experience supporting research in a university or similar environment.
* Extensive knowledge of current research issues in higher education, trends in scholarly communication, and Open Research.
* Extensive knowledge of bibliometrics reporting practices, impact and engagement measures, repository, and research data management in a higher education environment.
