Job Opportunity:

We are seeking an exceptional professional to fill the position of Associate Professor/Professor in Surgery. This role offers a unique opportunity for a visionary leader to drive academic excellence and contribute to the advancement of surgical education and research.


Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership in teaching, research, and engagement within the discipline of surgery. They will work collaboratively with colleagues across various campuses and with external partners to integrate teaching, research, and clinical care.

* Key Responsibilities:
* Drive high-quality surgical education, leading original and impactful research, and contributing to curriculum design and delivery.
* Lead by example, inspiring collaboration and innovation across teaching, research, and engagement.
* Mentor staff and students, supervise Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates, and contribute to governance through active participation in committees and leadership groups.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess the following skills and qualifications:

* Medical qualification registrable in New South Wales, specialist training in a surgical discipline, and fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeon or equivalent.
* A higher degree in a relevant discipline area is desirable, as is an outstanding research record, including significant external research funding and publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals.
* Record of leadership and achievement in a managerial role in a university or similar professional or clinical setting.
* Demonstrated capacity to successfully lead and manage complex organisational change in clinical, research, and education settings.
* Clinical subspecialty knowledge and expertise that complements and extends current clinical services available in Surgery.
* Demonstrated capacity to deliver quality improvement activities.
* Successful interaction with relevant professional organisations and/or evidence of involvement in broader health system management.
